What to Expect

New patient appointments are scheduled for 90 minute time slots.  During this appointment, Dr. Andrews will review your new patient paperwork and ask some questions to obtain more history.   After this, Dr. Andrews will do a thorough exam and provide a treatment.   Prior to leaving, he will discuss follow up appointments and any recommendations he may have.  Follow up appointments are scheduled for 60 minute time slots and consist of a brief history taken by Dr. Andrews followed by an Osteopathic Treatment.

During OMT appointments, Dr. Andrews will put his hands on you for diagnosis and treatments.   While there are multiple techniques taught and successfully used in OMT, Dr. Andrews uses gentle techniques (such as Cranial Osteopathy, sometimes called Craniosacral manipulation).  With treatments, some appointments will focus on the areas of concern and other times may focus on other areas.   The reason for this is that during appointments Dr. Andrews is looking for contributing factors to the symptoms and also for ways to help a patient overcome barriers that have stopped their healing in the past.

After treatments, you may be sore.  One of the best ways to help with minimizing this is to drink a couple extra glasses of water for the next few days following the treatment.

What to wear

Please wear loose fitting or athletic clothing to help with physical exam.  Some other patients may be sensitive to smells or have respiratory disorders; so, as a courtesy to others, please do not wear any strong colognes or perfumes and please try not to smoke prior to appointments.
